The Mobile World Congress 2013 show is well underway in Barcelona and Intel has been on hand to show off their all new Atom CPUs, the Clover Trail+, to the tablet and smartphone market.
The new 32nm Clover Trail+ is set for the performance smartphone and tablet sectors and is based around the Medfield platform, albeit with a few upgrades. A second Saltwell based CPU core has been added which boosts the Hyper Threading support, giving the device four threads.
The GPU is now a PowerVR SGX544MP2, a more powerful GPU than the one previously featured in the SGX540 GPU of the Medfield cores, with 9 SIMDs and 34.1GFLOPS of performance at stock speeds - performance similar to that of the Apple A5X.
The range comes in three different SKUs; Atom Z2580 @ 2.0GHz, T2560 @ 1.6GHz and the Atom Z2520 @1.2GHz. The platform supports LPDDR2 2x32-bit 1066MHz memory, 1080p@30fps video encode and decode, WUXGA (1920x1200) display support, 16 & 2MP cameras, HDR imaging, a built in modem and Android 4.1 support.
