Next-Gen Character Rendering At GDC 2013

Activision Blizzard working on new technology.

This year's GDC is already shaping up to be a big one, lets not forget its currently tipped as the favourite for next-gen console announcements pre E3. This however isn't directly about next gen consoles, but their gaming engines, hardware and graphics in general as Activision Blizzard aim to demonstrate their latest development techniques.

Researcher Jorge Jimenez will present high-quality next gen techniques for shading and highly realistic characters in a presentation titled "Photorealistic Eyes Rendering and Deformation". Jaminez has been with Activision Blizzard since 2012 as a real-time graphics researcher and it sounds like he really knows his stuff.

For those interested in the next generation of games development and rendering techniques you'll find him covering the subject of subsurface scattering rendering, eye shading, anti-aliasing, depth of field and film grain, all powerful tools of the trade that you can use to create hyper real charector in todays and tomorrows games.
