Q: Would i need to get an adapter to use the 550ti with this monitor?

That would depend on the output on your 550Ti. If your 550Ti has a VGA output on it, then you would not need an adapter as the monitor has that input type. However if you do not have a VGA output then you would need to buy an adapter to convert your DVI output to VGA. -MR
