Bluetooth - An industrial standard for low power, short range, radio communication between devices. Bluetooth is used to allow mobile phones, computers, PDAs and the like to communicate across short distances. HDD - Hard Disk Drive. Mass storage device with fixed capacity. Also referred to simply as HD. IDE - Integrated Drive Electronics. Common and cheap form of disk interface. Superseded by EIDE. Also sometimes referred to as Parallel ATA Laptop - A portable computer small enough to rest on a user's lap, also known as a notebook computer. OS - Operating System. For example Unix, Linux, Windows. The most important program that runs on a computer. Operating systems perform basic tasks, such as recognizing input from the keyboard, sending output to the display screen and keeping track of files. RAM - Random Access Memory. Fast, semi-conductor based memory in a computer. It is called "Random Access" because the computer can access any part of the memory directly. WiFi - A collective name for wireless Ethernet using 802.11x standards with x denoting the various alternatives such as a, b, g and n. 802.11n uses MiMo - multiple-input multiple-output - which allows for longer range and better quality signalling.
