Verbatim has announced the release of its second generation of micro USB drives.
The drives are just three cm long and can store up to 32GB of data, the company reports.
Verbatim has used system-in-package technology to seal the drives inside a hard plastic casing, protecting them from dust, static and water.
They are available in a number of colours, including eucalyptus green, Caribbean blue, volcanic orange and hot pink.
According to the company, it is now using 90 per cent less plastic to package the drives.
Hans Christoph Kaiser, business development manager of flash and USB memory at Verbatim, said: "The Micro USB drive can be easily secured to a mobile phone or key ring using the mini lanyard included in the pack."
He added that the "small device with its big storage capacity" can be carried around easily for use anywhere.
The drives are available in 2GB, 4GB, 8GB, 16GB and 32GB versions at a cost of between £7.99 and £34.99.
Verbatim confirms that the devices will function on Windows, Mac and Linux machines easily.
The company specialises in storage media including CD-Rs, CD-RWs, DVD-R, DVD-RWs and Blu-ray disks.
