Portability - Modern notebooks are light, compact and fairly robust. Even the latest small form factor PC's can't compete with the mobility of a notebook. Modern batteries will keep you running for a few hours if you're not near a mains socket. For computing on the move, notebooks have it sewn up.
Convenience - Everything is in one neat little box with no wires dangling about all over the place. If you like to surf the net or finish that spreadsheet whilst putting your feet up & relaxing on the sofa then you need a laptop - no question.
Coolness - Lets face it, notebooks such as Toshiba or the Sony Vaio are cool. They look cool. They're cool to use and they're far less boring than the average desktop box. Buy a decent notebook and your mates will want to see it. You'll never regret it because they work and they're cool.
