Long lost content from Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic II - The Sith Lords has been restored to the title after it was cut from the final retail version of the game, partly down to time constraints.

A team of modders began work on restoring the unfinished content in 2009 and now it is available to the public with the final version of The Sith Lords Restored Content Mod (TSLRCM).

Included in the renovate version of the title is left out plot elements, decisions and dialog, with the makers filling in for the voice acting if none was available. Hundreds of bugs from the previous version have also been fixed in the final version of the mod.

In an interview with PC Gamer, the projects co-leader Zbigniew Staniewicz explained how they took the project over from another group, Team Gizka, who were trying to restore the game before them.

"I’m not sure what exactly happened behind the scenes with Team Gizka, but they were taking long time with their project and eventually only one member of their team was left," he said.

Mr Staniewicz team decided to start their own restoration project, beginning from scratch, only later getting some of the custom animations Team Gizka had created before them.

He is now set to start work on a new project entitled M4-78EP, which will add M4-78, the Droids' Planet that was removed from the original game. It was not included in TSRLCM because there was too much new content that had to be created, which does not fit the bill of restoration, he explained.

Part of the problem is the lack of dialog and the subsequent difficulty in finding good voice actors that meet the quality of the rest of the game.

Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic II follows the story of an exiled Jedi Knight who tries to stop the Sith, who have nearly wiped out all the Jedi in the universe. Although through the decisions the players make, the character can move towards the light or the dark side of the force.
