Graphics card and motherboard manufacturer Zotac International has announced the launch of a new high-end series of motherboards, expanding its range of its award-winning ION ITX series.

The firm has unveiled the Zotac ION ITX-F series, which the organisation says will boost expansion capabilities thanks to a PCI Express x16 expansion slot.

Carsten Berger, marketing director at Zotac, explained: "Zotac always listens to user requests for features. End users loved our ION ITX series motherboards, but some requested PCI Express expansion. We listened and thus the Zotac ION ITX-F series was born."

The new package receives its upgraded power from a high-end Nvidia ION graphics processor, along with an energy-efficient dual-core Intel Atom 330 processor that will offer users greater power at a lower energy cost.

Meanwhile, graphics card manufacturer Nvidia has announced plans to enter into a collaboration with technology giant Microsoft.

The initiative will see the two firms working together to promote and develop Nvidia Tesla graphics processing units for high-performance parallel computing using Microsoft's Windows HPC Server 2008 operating system.
