The new E-620 digital single lens reflex (DSLR) camera from Olympus will be available to consumers from May.

It is claimed by the company that the model, which is 13cm x 9.4cm x 6cm in size, is the world’s smallest DSLR with in-body image stabilisation.

The Live View features offers a swivelling 2.7-inch LCD screen which allows the snapper to cover subjects from a range of angles.

A variety of settings allows users to shoot the style of image which suits the situation as colours can be sharpened, faded or even removed altogether to give black and white pictures.

John Knaur, senior marketing manager at Olympus Imaging America said: "Experimenting and creating your own unique masterpieces has never been easier or more fun.

"Pop Art, Grainy Black & White, and Pin Hole are just a few creative options that can be effortlessly found on the camera’s mode dial. The access is easy, and the results are fun and limitless."

However, speaking in a 2008 interview with Reuters, Tsuneji Uchida, president of Canon, warned that market for digital cameras could slump in 2009 due to the global economic crisis.ADNFCR-1220-ID-19042243-ADNFCR
