After a presidential campaign full of firsts, another has been added to the list: Barack Obama's new presidential portrait was the first to be shot using a digital camera.

While the press release on the President-elect's official website, change.gov, didn't give specific info, camera buffs across American soon pulled the Exif file data from the image to reveal that the 1916x2608 resolution shot was taken using a Canon EOS 5D Mark II.

The really keen will like to know that the device was set by official White House photographer Pete Souza at ISO 100 with a focal length of 105mm. Newly released, the camera has a staggering 21.1 megapixel sensor.

It doesn't take a huge leap of the imagination to conjure up an image of the board room at Canon when the story broke. Hands would have been rubbed, faces grinning gleefully, dollar signs appearing in front of the very eyes…ADNFCR-1220-ID-18978110-ADNFCR
